US Counselor visited Poland

July 23, 2021 – (TDI): Derek Chollet, Counselor of the US State Department, visited Warsaw, with the intention of restating the durable bilateral ties between the US and Poland – a NATO ally. In this visit, he met Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz, Secretary of State for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski, and Marshal of the Senate, Senator Tomasz Grodzki.
During his meetings, he highlighted the need for a collaborative approach that will better the regional energy security and also cater to climate crisis response. He appreciated Poland for its democracy-promoting and counteraction to Russian aggression. Enhancing the democratic institutions of Poland and safeguarding media freedom is vital for democracy, he shared. He also presented his apprehensions regarding the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Counselor Chollet also focused on economic diplomacy, through his meetings with several business leaders in order to enhance bilateral economic relations.
