Karachi (TDI): US Consul General Scott Urbom, along with officials from the US Consulate, celebrated Sindh Culture Day on Sunday, offering warm wishes of happiness and prosperity to those marking the occasion.
In a show of solidarity, the Consul General and his team recorded a video messages in Sindhi, wishing the people of Sindh in their native language: “Sindh jo sakafati deharho mubarak hojay.”
Dressed in traditional Ajrak shawls and Sindhi caps, the consulate officials expressed their admiration for the province’s rich cultural heritage.
Consul General Urbom underlined the importance of Sindh’s history, saying, “On Sindh Culture Day, we celebrate the rich heritage of a land renowned for its Sufis, poets, mystics, and saints. Sindh has long been a symbol of tolerance and inclusivity.”
The US extended its heartfelt wishes for peace and prosperity to the people of the province and Pakistan.
Urbom emphasized that the spirit of unity, inclusivity, and respect for cultural and religious diversity is embodied in Sindh’s cultural traditions.
The US Consulate’s official social media accounts also shared messages of goodwill, stating, “Happy Sindh Culture Day. It’s time to honor the vibrant traditions of the province, a land that has inspired generations with its poets, mystics, and saints. From its timeless Sufi teachings to its respect for cultural and religious diversity, Sindh stands as a beacon of unity.”

In a call for engagement, the consulate inquired about the public’s favorite aspects of Sindh’s cultural heritage.

Sindh Culture Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of December, a day marked by Sindhis across the globe to celebrate the province’s centuries-old traditions.
On this day, people wear Sindhi caps and Ajrak as a tribute to the cultural richness of their homeland.
