Rawalpindi, 13 November 2021 (TDI): The US, Chinese, and Russian Envoys on Afghanistan held separate meetings with the Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

Meeting with the Chinese Envoy

According to the ISPR, the discussion with the Chinese Envoy, Yao Jing, focused on issues of common interest, the regional security situation, notably the situation in Afghanistan, and ways to improve bilateral collaboration.

In order to achieve regional stability, the Army Chief emphasised the importance of coordinating efforts toward a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.

The visiting dignitary praised Pakistan’s participation in the Afghan peace process, particularly its border management efforts, and its contribution to regional stability, and vowed to do his share to promote diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

Meeting with the Russian Envoy

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan’s army chief, says the country wants to continue its legacy of bilateral interaction with all regional players and has a long-term and enduring multi-domain partnership with Russia.

Special Representative of the Russian Federation on Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov reiterated the need for global convergence on Afghanistan to avoid humanitarian crises and coordinated efforts for the Afghan people’s economic uplift.

Matters of mutual interest, the present security situation in Afghanistan, and bilateral collaboration in several fields were discussed during the discussion.

Meeting with the US Envoy

General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stated that Pakistan wants to keep the bilateral engagement tradition alive and wishes for a long-term, multi-domain cooperation with the US.

He was speaking with US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West, who had paid him a visit.

General Bajwa emphasised the importance of global cooperation on Afghanistan in order to avoid a humanitarian crisis and to coordinate efforts for the Afghan people’s economic elevation.

The visiting dignitary praised Pakistan’s participation in the Afghan situation, particularly its border management efforts, and its contribution to regional stability, and pledged to play his part for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
