Islamabad:16, July 2021-(TDI): Alaina Teplitz, US Ambassador to Srilanka called on Dinesh Gunawardena Foreign Minister on 13 July. Prime Minister Gunawadner thanked the U.S. government and people for their assistance in fighting the COVID19 pandemic and mitigating the environmental and socio-economic impact of the MV XPress Pearl disaster. Special thanks to the U.S. government for providing PSA and other medical supplies and blood oximeters through the United States International Development Agency and vaccinations through the COVAX program.
Secretary of State Gunawardner also welcomes investment from the US private sector and uses the close bilateral political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Other bilateral issues were discussed extensively, including a framework agreement to convene the trade and investment of partnership dialogue and joint commission.
