UNSC Votes for Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

United Nations (TDI): United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is set to vote today on another draft resolution calling for immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The fresh draft resolution put forward by ten elected members of UNSC demands an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The supporting members are Algeria, Ecuador, Guyana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Pressure for ceasefire in Gaza is increasing with each passing day. The UN leadership and majority of the countries are calling for ceasefire while condemning Israel’s brutal and unjustified attacks in the occupied territory.

A day earlier, leaders from the Group of 20 major economies issued a joint statement highlighting the suffering caused by conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. They also called for immediate ceasefire in Gaza while urging cooperation on climate change, poverty reduction and tax policy.

The two-day G-20 leaders meeting in Brazil, expressed deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and called urgently for more aid and protection for civilians along with a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
