UNSC Condemns Khuzdar School Bus Attack

New York (TDI): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, which resulted in the tragic deaths of at least seven individuals, including five schoolchildren. At least 52 others, including 38 children, were also wounded in the attack.

In a statement, the UNSC expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Pakistan. It also wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The UNSC reaffirmed that terrorism in all forms poses a serious threat to global peace and security. It demanded the accountability of the attackers, organizers, financiers, and supporters of such incidents, urging countries to collaborate with Pakistan in bringing the culprits to justice.

The statement reiterated that terrorism is unjustifiable, regardless of the purpose, and stressed the need for all nations to fight terrorism with full force, under international law.

Moreover, The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) also condemned the attack, describing it a violation of basic human rights and international law.

Global reactions included strong condemnations from the US and China. The US Embassy in Islamabad expressed sorrow over the killings of innocent children, stressing that no child should fear going to school.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong also slammed the attack and reiterated Beijing’s support for Islamabad in countering terrorism and ensuring social stability.
