Mexico City, 13 September 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard welcomed the US officials including State Secretary of the United States, Anthony Blinken and Commerce Secretary, Gina Raimondo.

The US State Secretary, Blinken announced the official tour to Mexico on 12 September 2022 while leaving the country. The State Secretary added that the US and Mexico are neighbours and have deep cultural and trade ties. Moreover, Secretary Blinken said that the US will further increase collaboration with Mexico.

Numerous aspects were put between both sides in which economic dialogue and negotiations were included. Washington D. C. and Mexico City are two potential trade partners. Furthermore, the two sides headed towards the Second Annual Meeting of the High-Level Economic Dialogue (DEAN).

The Foreign Minister of Mexico, Ebrard, and the US Secretary of State, Blinken discussed the aspects of mutual interest. Both American and Mexican officials focused on multilateral security measures.

Furthermore, the two sides showed an interest in expanding the links of academics, economists, and the business community. The organizing of such events will also boost the relations between the Finance and Public Credit Ministry and the Government’s Economy Ministry of Mexico with the US.

In addition, the two dignitaries also discussed focusing on strengthening ties for countering weapons smuggling and organized crime. Moreover, cooperation for future economic progress on a collective level and integration of mechanisms for migration were also discussed.

There will be a focus on the further strengthening of cooperation in the trade and production of pharmaceuticals and the medical sector. In addition, telecommunications and semiconductors production was also focused on a bilateral level.

Meeting with the Mexican President

President of the United Mexican States, Andres Manuel met the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, and Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo. During the meeting, productive and friendly relations between the two sides were encouraged.

Secretary Blinken assured the Mexican Head of State of the security cooperation. Both sides also determined the commitment to building a prosperous and secure future for North America.

High-Level Economic Dialogue

The High-Level Economic Dialogue (DEAN) is a platform that enhances the economic, trade, and commercial ties between the US and Mexico.

The first meeting under the following platform took place in 2021. The US State officials considered this meeting strategically important. The areas of job creation, eradicating economic inequalities and promoting bilateral investments.

Furthermore, the points of joint economic development and regional efforts for alleviating poverty were also discussed. Secretary Blinken said that the platform is a way for increasing interconnectivity between the two sides.

The two sides also briefly discussed the measures on a collective basis for climate change. Moreover, the long-standing partnership’s bolstering and working on new economic opportunities were also encouraged by US officials.
