Islamabad, 22 September 2021 (TDI): On Wednesday, the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section from the United States Embassy in Islamabad supported the first maritime table top exercise to detect and deter maritime trafficking.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, MNC, ANF, Customs, and Coast Guards were engaged in the First National Table-Talk Exercise (TTX), aimed at addressing the challenges of trafficking, smuggling, drugs, and contraband items in Pakistan coasts and maritime domain in a more effective way.
The Embassy manifested that the United States-Pakistan partnership strengthens the cooperation against drugs and reduces the illegal contraband dramatically from Pakistan. Pakistan is critical to security in the region.
With the support of the INL, Pakistan’s anti-narcotic efforts reported the seizure of 6 tons of morphine and heroin, 7.9 of opium, 3.26 kilograms of cocaine, and 61.4 tons of hashish during 2019. Also, the INL has trained over 2000 prosecutors, judges, and detectives on effective prosecution
