Islamabad, 22 September 2021 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan wishes Republic of Mali on its independence day.
Mali came under French control during 19th century. By 1905, most of the area of Mali was the part of French Sudan. However, French Sudan became an autonomous region as Sudanese Republic, and in 1959, Mali and Senegal merged together and established Mali Federation.
In June 1960, Mali Federation achieved independence from France, whereas in the same year on 22nd September Sudanese Republic got independence from France and became Republic of Mali as Senegal also had withdrawn from the federation earlier in June 1960.
Mali is the eight largest country of Africa with the capital Bamako. The official language of Mali is French.
Both Pakistan and Mali share high-level bilateral ties and cooperation in various fields. The exchange of trade delegations between Mali and Pakistan can be an effective tool for strengthening trade and economic ties. Moreover, role of private sectors of two states is also vital in this regard
