Geneva, 6 May 2023 (TDI): UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) appreciated Pakistan’s immense support yesterday. In a message, UNIDIR commends the support of Pakistan to develop innovative solutions to international security challenges.
The practical solutions presented by Pakistan are helping the UN to move ideas into action. Innovative solutions are valuable in achieving global goals and resolving security challenges.
In response to the appreciation received, Pakistan’s permanent mission to the UN and international organizations expressed gratitude.
Pakistan‘s permanent mission extends its further support for the invaluable work of UNIDIR. It has also expressed its willingness to strengthen this partnership.
Pakistan has always advocated the need for deliberations and negotiations. At the global and regional levels, Pakistan considers arms control and disarmament as vital tools to promote the goals of peace and security.
Pakistan has contributed substantially to the work of the Conference on Disarmament, including through its Presidencies in 1990 & 1996, on the issues of expansion of its membership and a revision of its working methods.

UNIDIR is an autonomous institute within the UN. UNIDIR assists the international community in developing the practical ideas needed to find solutions to critical security problems.
The UNIDIR is voluntarily run. Pakistan is also one of the thirty-five donors for the year 2022-23.
The UNIDIR plays a crucial role in providing ideas and advice and to facilitate dialogue that can advance multilateral arms control and disarmament.
