Islamabad (TDI): Mishbah Khar, Ambassador for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) and Advisor to the Chairman of Senate, met with the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya.
The meeting focused on providing a detailed briefing regarding the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference scheduled to be held in Islamabad from 11–12 November.
Mishbah Khar has formally extended invitations to parliamentary leaders of various countries via respective Ambassadors stationed in Islamabad.
She told the Resident Coordinator that the conference would serve as a unique platform for parliamentarians from across the region to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, enhance collaboration, and strengthen regional partnerships.
Highlighting the objectives of the conference, Khar noted that the event would play a pivotal role in promoting multilateral cooperation and fostering constructive dialogue among regional stakeholders.

She stressed that the conference represents an important opportunity to address shared challenges and reinforce institutional linkages.
She also drew attention to the humanitarian and economic losses caused by the ongoing torrential rains and floods in Pakistan. She urged the United Nations to play a more active role in accelerating relief and recovery efforts on humanitarian grounds.
“The UN has always stood by developing nations in difficult times. Pakistan is currently grappling with severe flood conditions, and this is the moment for the UN to step forward and support vulnerable communities,” she said.
The two dignitaries also discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives in various fields.
Mohamed Yahya expressed gratitude for the briefing and the formal invitation, assuring that the United Nations would extend its full support and actively participate in the upcoming conference.
