UN humanitarian Funds give $10 million for fuel predicament in Lebanon

Beirut, 1 September (TDI): ON 1st September Martin Griffiths Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Paid a Brief visit to Beirut, Lebanon.

On Mr. Griffiths’s visit, He had a meeting with Jonna Wronecka, United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, and Najat Rochdi, Deputy Special Coordinator Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon.  The counterparts of the Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Lebanon received Mr. Under-Secretary-General.

Mr. Griffiths in his statement deliberates upon the Insecurity that Lebanon faces. Mr. Under- Secretary-General Acknowledge the humanitarian community assistance to the exposed population of Lebanon. He showed gratitude towards their efforts to help Lebanese refugees and migrants in the wake of this distinctive fuel crisis. He urges the donors to help as through their constant support humanitarian workers will respond to the publics’ requirements. Mr. Griffiths in his Statement showed his support for all the Humanitarian Efforts.

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator on his visit also released $4 million from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (UN CERF). Along with CERF, they gave an additional $6 million. The Funds were meant to help the UN World Food Program (WFP) and up to 65 Health centers in Lebanon. Through funds, they can establish a fuel supply line to provide sustainable health and sanitation activities through the proper provision of water, added Mr. Griffiths.
