Geneva, 1 September (TDI): On September 1st, 2021, the Atlas of Mortality report was launched in the United Nations, Geneva. In the meeting, the report was launched by the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster and Risk Reduction.
Head UNDRR, Ms. Mami Mizutori during the special session expressed her opinion. Head UNDRR expressed her concern regarding the impact of Disasters on developing countries. Ms. Mizutori added that Environmental and Natural Disasters have a profound effect on developing countries. The disasters affect the Evolving countries more than the developed countries, she added.
Head UNDRR presenting the report added that this disproportionate consequence of disaster on the developing countries thus lead to more damage. The loss of life, damage to the houses, and the threat of homelessness are thus great in the 3rd world countries, Ms. Mizutori Added. She talks about taking effective measures for Risk Reduction in 3rd World Countries.
The UN Special Representative of Secretary-General for Disaster and Risk Reduction is working to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The Sendai Framework implementation will reduce Disaster Risk by precisely supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
