United Nations, 29th January (TDI): The United Nations confirmed yesterday that it had received notification from Washington of its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Change Agreement, President Donald Trump’s key executive action pledge during the election campaign.
On his first day at the Oval Office, Trump declared the US would leave the agreement immediately. The UN climate change body manages the agreement, which is all happening according to America’s first agenda. This body wholly and solely works on balancing the average global temperature rise below a certain threshold.

In this regard, the spokesperson for UN chief Antonio Guterres, Stephane Dujarric, said, ‘’“I can confirm to you that the United States has notified the secretary-general, in his capacity as a depository, of its withdrawal on January 27 of this year from the Paris agreement.’’

In addition, as per the clause from the Paris Accord of Article 28, paragraph two, the withdrawal of the United States will take place on January 27, 2026.’’
According to the annual budget of the UN Climate Change Framework Convention, the body’s tentative costs for 2024-2025 are perceived at $96.5 million.

Michael Bloomberg, the former CEO of Bloomberg, also announced that his foundation will soon meet the shortfall. However, the secretariat is further tasked with supporting the global response to climate threats and organizing international climate conferences to create awareness among the global masses. The next Conference of the Parties (COP30) will be held in Brazil in November.
