London, 18 August 2021 (TDI): Dominic Raab Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom; and FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi had a telephonic conversation regarding the present Afghanistan situation. Both the leaders stated their own points of view on the war-torn situation in Afghanistan and the control of the Taliban over various areas in Afghanistan. Dominic Raab stated that the whole international community stands united for the protection of the rights of the Afghans. Whereas, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan supports the peaceful settlement of the Afghan situation and urged the international community to engage with the Afghan leaders for a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.
Furthermore, Christian Turner, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan took to Twitter and shared that UK and Pakistan are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive settlement in Afghanistan by working together and that “Sustainable peace is only possible through an inclusive Afghan-led process.”
