Islamabad: July 7, 2021-(TDI) Today, UK Public Health England (PHE) and Pakistan National Institute for Health (NIH) reached an agreement. Under this, the UK will assist to increase the genomic sequencing capacity. The agreement is a part of the UK’s New Variant Assessment Platform (NVAP) programme. The programme was announced back in January by the UK Secretary of State for Health.
British High Commissioner Christian Turner said, with the help of this programme and UK science expertise, Pakistan will detect new variants which might be dangerous more efficiently and end the Covid-19. He further said this agreement shows UK-Pakistan friendship and determination building Pakistan back better from the Covid-19.
