UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye Condemn Israeli Military Operations in Syria

Syria

Ankara (TDI): Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have strongly condemned Israeli military operations in southern Syria, accusing Israel of violating the country’s sovereignty following incursions and shelling in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa.

In a statement issued on Monday, Turkiye’s Foreign Ministry denounced the Israeli actions, saying the operations had breached Syria’s territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty. The ministry said the military activity near the occupied Golan Heights had endangered civilians, damaged property and forced some residents to flee their homes.

“These attacks violate international law and further worsen the humanitarian situation for civilians in the affected areas,” the ministry said, calling on the international community to take action to halt the operations.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the Israeli incursions and artillery fire, describing them as violations of the country’s sovereignty.

Saudi Arabia voiced strong opposition to the continued Israeli operations, reaffirming what it described as its complete rejection of actions that intimidate civilians and violate international law and established international norms.

The United Arab Emirates likewise condemned the attacks, reiterating its firm opposition to any infringement of Syria’s sovereignty or actions that threaten the country’s security and stability.

Israel’s military said on Sunday that its forces had killed several armed militants during operations conducted a day earlier in the southern areas of Syria under Israeli control.

Israel expanded its presence in the Syrian Golan Heights in late 2024 after taking control of the demilitarized buffer zone monitored by the United Nations, a move that has drawn repeated criticism from regional countries and international observers.

The latest developments come amid heightened regional tensions, with diplomatic efforts continuing to prevent further escalation across the Middle East. Several international actors have repeatedly called for restraint and renewed dialogue to avoid a wider conflict that could further destabilise the region.

Southern Syria has remained a sensitive security zone for years because of its proximity to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and the presence of multiple armed groups. Periodic military operations and cross-border incidents have contributed to recurring instability and humanitarian concerns for communities living near the frontier.

Regional governments and international organisations have consistently stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty, protecting civilians and resolving disputes through diplomatic engagement. Observers warn that sustained dialogue and confidence-building measures will be essential to reducing tensions and promoting long-term stability in the region.
