UAE Pakistan Fraternal Ties: Discussed in London Talks

London, 7 September 2024 (TDI): The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, welcomed the meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, during the latter’s visit to the United Kingdom.

The meeting focused on deepening the bilateral relations in the areas of trade and investment. Also address the issues regarding the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting underscored the powerful fraternal bonds between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.

Both leaders enhanced the shared commitment to further foster cooperation between two brotherly states. They highlighted the continuous dialogues and collaboration.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

In the meeting, Minister Al Sayegh and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar discovered key areas where the UAE and Pakistan could work with collaboration.

Trade and investment were the main goals of the meeting. Both countries want to create more opportunities for businesses and investors.

Minister Al Sayegh highlighted the UAE’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic development. He noted the strategic importance of Pakistan as a trading partner and a key player in the region.

UAE has an interest in expanding its investment in Pakistan in infrastructure, energy, and technology sectors.

Discussion on OIC-Related Issues

The meeting also highlighted the discussion on issues related to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

They emphasized the importance of unity among OIC member states and the need for collective action to promote peace, stability, and development.

Minister Al Sayegh said, “UAE stands with Pakistan in OIC platform on Kashmir issue.”

They agreed on the maintenance of strong coordination within OIC to address these issues effectively and foster the interests of Muslim Ummah.

Revival of the Pak-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission

An important outcome of the meeting was the announcement of the 12th session of the Pak-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission. That will be held in the UAE next month.

This session represents the revival of the commission after a hiatus of 13 years. It reflects the renewed commitment to bilateral ties.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed the optimism on Joint Ministerial Commission. He stated, “The session would provide a valuable platform for discussion and advancing major areas of cooperation.”

He stressed the regular high-level engagement to ensure the growth and development of both countries.

The meeting ended with a strong commitment from Minister Ahmed Bin Ali Al Sayegh and Senator Ishaq Dar.

Both showed more cooperation in the bilateral relationship with a focus on boosting trade, investment, and coordination within the OIC framework.

However, there is a sense of optimism about the future of their relationship by conducting a Joint Ministerial Commission. The meeting in London marks a new chapter in Pak-UAE relations.
