UAE envoy commends Pakistan's Health Minister appointment
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi held a meeting with the interim Health Minister of Pakistan Dr. Nadeem Jan.

Islamabad, 24 August 2023 (TDI): Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi held a meeting with the interim Health Minister of Pakistan Dr. Nadeem Jan in his office today.

 

The UAE Ambassador to Pakistan conveyed profound appreciation for the selection of esteemed public health expert Dr. Nadeem Jan as the Health Minister.

 

Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi of the United Arab Emirates remarked that it signifies the commitment of the Pakistani state.

The Ambassador visited the Health Minister to deliver a joint invitation letter from the UAE’s Minister of Health, UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, and the WHO Director-General regarding the upcoming 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

 

The Ambassador praised the Pakistani Government’s strategy of selecting the most suitable individual for the role, exemplified by the appointment of Dr. Nadeem Jan, a distinguished public health specialist, as the nation’s Health Minister.

The Health Minister extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and expressed gratitude for the UAE’s significant assistance to Pakistan’s healthcare advancement, notably in the realm of eradicating polio through the UAE PAP initiative, as well as in addressing the interrelation between human health, well-being, and climate change.

 

Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, the Health Secretary, also attended the meeting.

 

The Health Minister affirmed that Pakistan considers the UAE a robust and precious ally, and foresees the fraternal ties between the nations growing even stronger in the future.

Preceding this, Pakistan’s interim Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Hamad Obaid Alzaabi, in Islamabad on 23 August to deliberate on trade and investment linkages and mutual interests.

 

They also agreed to enhance mutual relations between Pakistan and UAE.
