Abu Dhabi, 27 January 2023 (TDI): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) condemned Israeli forces’ storming of the Palestinian camp of Jenin, which caused several deaths and injuries.
In a statement, the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation called on Israeli authorities to reduce regional escalation and instability.
The Ministry also urged support for regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East Peace Process and cease illegal practices that endanger the two-state solution.
Along these lines, it stressed establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It is pertinent to note that the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale military operation in the camp on Thursday.
Israeli soldiers murdered nine Palestinians and injured numerous others in the West Bank city of Jenin. It is also worth mentioning here that over 170 Palestinians were assassinated last year in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

At least 29 Palestinians, including five children, were martyred in only January 2023 while the United Nations (UN) marked the year 2022 as the worst year so far for Palestinians in the face of Israeli brutality.
Israeli-UAE Diplomatic Relations
Israel and the UAE’s relationship has dramatically transformed from hostility to cooperation in recent years. The Abraham Accords, a historic peace accord between the UAE and Israel, were announced in August 2020. This pact was mediated by the US.
The Accord effectively normalized diplomatic relations between the two countries. It opened the door to further collaboration on various subjects, including trade, tourism, and security.
Additionally, the two nations have started working together on several economic and scientific fronts. Israel has been a potential resource of innovative technology to the UAE, particularly in water management and cyber security.
Israeli businesses are eager to grow in the UAE market, and UAE businesses are looking to invest in Israel. The two nations begin to explore possibilities for tourism and trade.
Jenin camp
Jenin camp is a Palestinian refugee camp situated in the northern West Bank opened in 1953. According to a report, about 22,000 people are living in the center.
Congestion, unemployment, poverty, and inadequate access to clean water and healthcare make the camp’s living conditions deplorable.
