Turkmenistan President Highlights TAPI, Other Projects

-

Moscow (TDI): Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow underscored the significance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power line, and key railway projects during the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit held in Moscow.

Addressing the gathering, President Berdimuhamedow emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding energy cooperation both within the CIS bloc and beyond.

“These projects,” he said, “are essential for strengthening regional ties and advancing the shared economic interests of CIS nations.”

He further highlighted the critical role these initiatives play in boosting energy resources across borders, offering strategic opportunities for all participants.

The Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan has welcomed President Berdimuhamedow’s remarks, affirming the potential benefits of these projects for the economies of the participating nations.

“Certainly, these initiatives can significantly contribute to the economic growth of Afghanistan and the broader region,” said Abdul Latif Nazari, the ministry’s technical deputy.

“Afghanistan remains prepared to collaborate on any regional project, including TAPI.”

Experts also see the TAPI project as a catalyst for economic stability and development in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan currently shares four major joint projects with Turkmenistan, including TAPI, TAP, a railway project, and a fiber optic cable transfer.
