Afghanistan, Turkmenistan Prepare to Launch TAPI Project

KABUL, 8 September 2024 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the first preparatory meeting for the inauguration of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline (TAPI), and other key projects between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.

The meeting, held under the directive of the Prime Minister’s Office and chaired by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, finalized arrangements for TAPI, Fiber Optic, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission (TAP), and railway projects, according to a press release.

Representatives from various security agencies and the Ministries of Mines and Petroleum, Public Works, Information and Culture, and Telecommunications and Information Technology, as well as the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and a representative from Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the chairman of the commission and officials from participating entities presented their reports on the readiness of various sub-committees and made strategic decisions to ensure the successful execution of the inauguration ceremonies.

The projects are expected to be launched in a formal ceremony in the coming days, marking a significant milestone in the strengthening of economic ties between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
