Stronger Together: The Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Pakistan Trilateral Summit Is Happening Today

Lachin (TDI): Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Pakistan Trilateral Summit, coinciding with Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, will take place today in Lachin, Azerbaijan. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is already in Azerbaijan as he made his third stop yesterday during his four-country regional diplomacy tour.

Lachin will see a convergence of interests and brotherhood as the three leaders will sit together to send a strong message of mutual support and solidarity.

Turkiye was PM Shehbaz’s first stop of the 5-day tour, where he thanked President Erdogan for Turkiye’s open support of Pakistan during the May military escalation with India. Azerbaijan and Turkiye were the two countries who openly supported Pakistan against India.

Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, İrfan Neziroğlu, shared the spirit of today’s Trilateral Summit as he wrote on X, “We are stronger together.”

Yesterday, upon his arrival in Azerbaijan, PM Shehbaz Sharif met his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, in a very cordial and friendly air, where smiles and laughter defined the optics.

Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan’s people celebrated Pakistan’s success in Maarka-e-Haq. PM Shehbaz appreciated this gesture and added that both countries had supported each other on every occasion and would continue to do so.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of collaboration in political, economic, defense, and cultural domains, and reaffirmed commitment to diversifying strategic ties through investment in mutually beneficial sectors.

Both countries collaborate persistently in energy and defense, while Pakistan has also given seaport access to Azerbaijan to reach global markets.

Azerbaijan is also celebrating its 107 Republic Day today and the Trilateral Summit becomes even more symbolic, as it positions its foreign policy standing together with decades old friends and partners.

For Turkiye, the Summit is in line with its defense collaboration with Asian partners. For Pakistan, regional diplomacy and strong partnerships with friendly countries helps with economic recovery and is all the more important as India creates trouble in the region, manipulating the Indus Water Treaty.
