Turkiye’s Role in Agribusiness Supply Chains Caught Spotlight at AgroFood Summit

Mersin (TDI): The AgroFood Summit 2025, held in Mersin from November 19–21, concluded after three days of intensive discussions that brought together more than 300 delegates from 34 countries.

Organized by APK-Inform with support from the Ukraine Pulse and Soybean Association, the event offered a comprehensive overview of developments in global grain, oilseed, and pulse markets while highlighting the strategic importance of Türkiye and the broader Black Sea region in agribusiness.

Throughout the summit, experts examined shifting grain and pulse market dynamics, focusing on the effects of geopolitical tensions, evolving trade policies, and changing global demand.

Panelists and speakers also explored growing competition in the oilseed sector across the Black Sea region, while trade specialists assessed the role of major importers and exporters, including India, China, and Canada, in shaping the pulse supply chain.

Türkiye’s expanding agro-processing sector was a central theme, with representatives from the milling and feed industries discussing opportunities to scale production for both domestic and international markets.

Participants agreed that Türkiye’s strategic location and industrial capacity position it to strengthen its role as a key supplier to surrounding regions.

Another major area of discussion was logistics. Delegates evaluated current and emerging trade routes linking Central Asia and the Black Sea to the Eastern Mediterranean.

Many highlighted Mersin’s status as Türkiye’s largest port and a growing regional logistics hub, capable of supporting increased agricultural trade with the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.

Kazakhstan also featured prominently at this year’s summit. Its Food Contract Corporation expressed interest in expanding wheat and legume exports to Türkiye, underscoring the strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.

On the final day, participants toured one of the terminals of Mersin Port, gaining direct insight into the infrastructure that supports Türkiye’s agricultural export capacity.

Organizers described AgroFood Summit 2025 as a milestone event for fostering cooperation among producers, processors, traders, and logistics providers.
