Uzbekistan-Turkey Relations
The first country to recognize the independence of Uzbekistan was Turkey on 16 December 1991. On 4 March 1992, the two countries established diplomatic ties. On 4 March 2022, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey marked three decades of diplomatic ties.
Due to some reasons, the relationships between the two countries deteriorated, but they started to revive when President Mirziyoyev assumed office in Uzbekistan.
In 2020, Turkey hosted the First meeting of the Turkey-Uzbekistan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which marked a historic moment in the two countries’ bilateral relations.
Likewise, the second meeting is scheduled for President Erdogan’s next visit on Tuesday. Furthermore, Turkey is now one of Uzbekistan’s top five trade partners.
