Turkish President stresses not to be silent over Palestine situation

Ankara, 28 April 2024 (TDI): The Turkish President has stressed that no one could expect that his country would stay silent over situation in Palestine.

He shared this message in a statement delivered as a speech on Friday during the fifth annual conference of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds in Istanbul.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasized this message regarding the ongoing genocide that the Palestinians have been subjected to for 203 days now. The comments appeared in the backdrop of the Israeli aggression launched by the Israeli occupation forces against the entire Gaza Strip.

The Turkish Premier pointed out that the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds has “become the voice and soul of the Palestinian issue at the global level thanks to its activities and work in all fields.”

Furthermore, he noted that “in every corner of Al-Quds Al-Sharif there are traces and marks of our heroic ancestors who served the Holy City for 400 years.”

He vehemently underlined that “no one can erase” these efforts of their ancestors.

Moreover, “no one can expect us to remain silent regarding the genocide against our Palestinian brothers who have been resisting alone for 203 days,” he narrated.

Eradicating the identity of ancient Jerusalem

Turkish President Erdogan lamented that Israel is gradually eradicating the identity of ancient Jerusalem.

For that matter, it is escalating its violations against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque which is the first Qibla for Muslims, thus, highly revered.

“The mindset of those celebrating their children’s birthday by killing their Gazan counterparts means that they have no connection to the most basic human values,” he criticized.

He further highlighted that Turkiye will continue to consider Hamas as a national liberation movement. Although Hamas has been vilified, President Erdogan mentioned that it defends its land against the Israeli occupiers.

He then explained that Turkiye is the only country that has imposed trade restrictions on Israel for 54 products.

President Erdogan also censured the US administration for its unconditional military and diplomatic support for Israel. Saying that, by doing so US is complicit in crime by contributing to the exacerbation of the problem in Gaza and not the solution.
