Turkish Port Links Uzbek Goods to Europe, Africa

Tashkent (TDI): Uzbek diplomats recently visited Turkiye’s Kocaeli region to strengthen trade and economic relations, holding meetings with local officials and business leaders.

The discussions addressed opportunities for increasing cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, educational, and humanitarian fields.

Uzbek representatives underlined the current reforms in the country and the incentives available to international investors in its free economic zones.

Key figures in the discussions included Kocaeli’s Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, Regional Industrial Chamber Head Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, Regional Governor Ilhomi Aktash, and Gebze Güzeller Industrial Zone Director Adem Ceylan.

Mayor Büyükakın presented an overview of Kocaeli’s economic and social strengths, while Ayhan Zeytinoğlu showed interest in strengthening bilateral economic collaboration.

Zeytinoğlu proposed supporting exchanges between Uzbek and Turkish business delegations to foster stronger partnerships.

Adem Ceylan suggested setting up a dedicated logistics center for Uzbek investors within the Gebze Industrial Zone.

The center would provide storage facilities for Uzbek products and serve as a gateway for exporting goods to Europe and Africa via the Gebze seaport.

The trip concluded with a deal to hole a business forum in the Kocaeli region.

The forum will feature a delegation of Uzbek entrepreneurs, aimed at enhancing bilateral and regional collaboration.
