Doha, 25 October 2023 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan embarked on his official visit to the State of Qatar on October 24, which will be dated till October 25.
During his visit to Qatar, the Turkish Foreign Minister will be meeting with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Doha.
During the visit, views will be exchanged on the regional and international developments, including the latest situation in Palestine.
Most importantly, the bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkiye will be discussed, particularly the preparations for the 9th Meeting of the Turkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee that is to be held in Doha in the upcoming period.
Turkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee
The Annual meetings of the Turkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee were established in 2014 as a bilateral mechanism to form the institutional basis of high-level dialogue and cooperation between Turkiye and Qatar.
The meetings were designated to be co-chaired by Turkish President, Tayyip Erdoğan and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
In this regard, the first meeting of the Committee was held in Doha on December 2, 2015, the second and third meetings were convened respectively in Trabzon and Doha on December 18, 2016, and November 14-15, 2017, and most recently the fourth meeting was held in Istanbul on November 26, 2018.
On the occasion of those meetings, numerous agreements, protocols, and memoranda of understanding were signed, which further strengthened the cooperation between Turkiye and Qatar in various fields.
Before visiting Qatar, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 24, where he met the President of UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting with the UAE President, Foreign Minister Fidan also discussed providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza and achieving peace during their meeting in Abu Dhabi.
