Washington (TDI): US President Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested that his proposed “Board of Peace” could eventually take the place of the United Nations, which he criticized as ineffective, while marking the first anniversary of his second term in office.
Speaking for more than an hour at the White House before taking questions from reporters, Trump said the UN had unrealised potential but claimed he had never seriously considered relying on the organisation to resolve international conflicts. When asked directly whether his envisioned Board of Peace could replace the UN, Trump replied that it “might.”
Earlier in the day, the president released a list of what he described as key achievements from his first year back in office, highlighting what he portrayed as progress on both domestic and foreign policy fronts.
