Trump Renews Offer to Mediate Kashmir Dispute

Washington (TDI): US President Donald Trump has once again expressed his willingness to help mediate the longstanding Kashmir dispute, offering to play a role in bringing peace between Pakistan and India.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Trump said he believed he could help resolve one of South Asia’s most entrenched conflicts.

Recalling a recent period of heightened military tension between the two countries, Trump claimed his personal intervention had helped avert a full-scale war.

“I stopped a war between them,” he said. “They were very close to something very serious, possibly even nuclear, and I made the calls, I stepped in.”

According to Trump, he spoke to the leaders of both countries during that crisis, warning them that a war could have far-reaching consequences, including an impact on their trade ties with the United States. “I told them: no war if you want to keep trading with us. And they listened,” he said.

Trump praised both Pakistani and Indian leaders for showing maturity and restraint, and reiterated his offer to serve as an arbitrator in the Kashmir dispute.

“I believe I can bring them to the table. I told them I’m ready. I can fix anything,” he said, adding that he remained hopeful that a solution could be found even after decades of hostility.

The US State Department echoed Trump’s remarks, highlighting his ability to bring unlikely parties into dialogue. Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said earlier this week that President Trump has a “track record of creating space for conversations that once seemed impossible.”
