Trump Promises Peace, End to Wars

-

Palm Beach (TDI): After clinching a decisive majority in the 2024 US presidential race, Donald Trump took the stage at the Palm Beach Convention Centre to proclaim his return, vowing a foreign policy focused on ending conflicts.

“I’m not going to start wars, I’m going to stop wars,” he declared to an enthusiastic crowd, underscoring a commitment to peace reminiscent of his previous term.

Trump celebrated the victory as a triumph of what he called “the greatest political movement of all time,” thanking Americans for electing him as the 47th president.

“I will fight for you and your family,” the 78-year-old said, promising his unwavering dedication to the American people.

The announcement of Trump’s win, projected by Fox News with 277 electoral votes, comes as a stunning comeback for the former president after four years out of office.

Praise for Key Supporters

His victory speech included praise for key supporters, notably Elon Musk, who contributed $120 million to Trump’s campaign.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a strong Trump ally, has been promised a lead role in a government efficiency commission under the new administration.

The Republican leader was joined on stage by running mate Senator JD Vance, Republican leaders, and family members as he acknowledged the “unprecedented mandate” given by the American people.

“America has given us a powerful mandate,” he said to roaring cheers.

Trump’s success in swing states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, appeared to put him over the top.

Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic rival, had not addressed supporters gathered at Howard University.

Her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, spoke briefly, urging patience, “We still have votes to count,” he said, hinting at a possible challenge to the results.

According to projections, Trump claimed 23 states, including Texas and Ohio, and crucial battleground states like North Carolina, tallying 277 electoral votes. Harris won 226 votes, securing Democratic strongholds like California and New York.

The race’s magic number remains 270 electoral votes, with Trump seemingly surpassing the threshold in an election that promises significant shifts in US policy under his leadership for the next four years.
