Ottawa (TDI): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun about the growing situation in the Middle East.
In this regard, Trudeau congratulated him on his success in the Lebanon election. Trudeau also shared his cordial views that it is a moment of hope for the betterment of the Lebanese people.
Moreover, both leaders have appreciated the significance of the ceasefire along Lebanon’s southern border and of supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces.

In such a scenario, both leaders have emphasised the importance of living; Lebanese have a right to live in a peaceful and secure situation. Trudeau also mentioned that Canada will always stand with the Lebanese people if needed.

Meanwhile, both leaders have also discussed the mutual trust and cooperation between people-to-people connections. They agreed that the shared values and priorities will carry forward this relationship in the years to come.
However, the Lebanese President thanked Trudeau for his congratulations on the recent election. He also quoted that Lebanon had a long friendship with Canada where Lebanese are working in Canada which helps in boosting the development and progress of both countries.

After all, over two years of a vacant presidency in Lebanon, Michel Aoun was elected as president on January 9. In addition, on January 13, Nawaf Salam, a prime minister of Lebanon, was appointed to form a new government.
The rise of these two leaders has triggered hope for change among many Lebanese citizens, especially after Hezbollah appeared significantly weakened following its conflict with Israel.
