Miyawaki Forest Description
This is a technique of afforestation. This technique is used to swiftly grow an urban forest. Twenty to Thirty years is the time span for this forest to develop. On the contrary natural forests grow in 200-300 years. 15 – 30 different species are planted together.
This allows the plants to receive sunlight only from above. Consequently, growth is upwards and not sideways and hence swift and dense in nature. Japanese botanist named Akira Miyawaki is the founder of this technique.
