Dubai, 4 September 2024 (TDI): The abolition of the visa regime between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last summer has significantly boosted tourism between the two nations.
According to the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department, Azerbaijani visitors to Dubai surged by 69 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year.
This upward trend has continued into 2024, with a 62 percent increase in tourist arrivals in the first half of the year relative to the same period in 2023.
The substantial rise in Azerbaijani tourists underscores Dubai’s growing attractiveness and the positive impact of eased travel regulations.
Enhanced direct flight connections between Dubai and Baku have further solidified tourism links between the two cities.
This improved accessibility has elevated Dubai’s status as a favored destination for Azerbaijani travelers.
UAE- Azerbaijan Ties
The UAE’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Azerbaijan is evident in the tourism sector.
Dubai views Azerbaijan as a promising market, reflecting the strengthening relations and mutual interest in expanding economic and cultural exchanges.
Dubai’s ongoing improvements in tourism infrastructure and its efforts to provide memorable and safe experiences for Azerbaijani visitors.
Dubai’s global appeal as a tourist destination continues to grow. In 2023, the city welcomed a record 17.15 million international tourists, and this trend has persisted into 2024 with 9.31 million visitors between January and June. It represented a 9 percent increase from the previous year.
Dubai’s diverse attractions, including historical sites, vibrant bazaars, and unique entertainment options, draw tourists from Azerbaijan and around the world.
The UAE’s cruise tourism sector is also expanding, with eight cruise liners currently including Dubai in their itineraries, offering more options for tourists to explore the city.
Dubai has been recognized globally, securing the top spot in the “Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards” as the best tourist destination for three consecutive years.
New attractions, such as the Real Madrid World theme park, further exemplify Dubai’s commitment to innovation and entertainment, aligning with the Dubai Economic Program (D33), which aims to double the UAE’s GDP by 2033.
