To Do Everything to Stop Conflict in ME: Biden

Washington, (TDI): Following clash between Israel and Lebanon, US President Joe Biden has vowed to do all to prevent worsening of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

“We’re going to do everything we can to keep the wider war from breaking out and we’re still pushing hard,” Biden told reporters at the White House, according to media reports.

Biden expressed worries about the rising tensions between Israel and the Lebanese group, Hezbollah.

Last week, Israeli strikes left tens of people killed and dozens of other injured including women and children in Lebanon and since October, more than 740 people have died in Lebanon.

Analysts maintain that it is the worst confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah after 2006 when sever clashes erupted between them. Since 2006, no major conflict had taken place.

US President Joe “Yes, I am,” Biden told reporters when asked whether he was worried about rising tensions in the Middle East.

Two days before the attack, at least 37 people were killed and over 3,000 others injured in two waves of explosions of wireless communication devices across Lebanon.

The Lebanese government and Hezbollah blamed Israel for the explosions, yet, Tel Aviv has not denied or confirmed its involvement.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, which has killed over 41,400 people, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 last year.

The US and the world are showing concerns about the Israel-Hamas clash fearing for regional and wider conflict.

The US is trying hard to deescalate situation in the region. However, reports suggest that senior officials are not hopeful about any peace deal till next year when Biden will have left his office.
