Bangkok, 29 December 2021 (TDI): Thailand and Russia mark the 125th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The news was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand today, through their Twitter account.

On this occasion of the 125th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Director-General Information of Thailand held a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Thailand, Evgeny Tomikhin.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation between them. The discussion also included APEC 2022 sessions scheduled in Thailand this year.
The talks also allowed the two parties to express their views on cultural cooperation between Russia and Thailand. Matters including the press & media also came into a discussion between them.
APEC 2022
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) session will be hosted by Thailand in 2022. Thailand will conduct the summit under the theme of “Open. Connect. Balance.”
APEC 2022 will provide the first-ever platform for global leaders to hold a get-together after the pandemic. Thailand will also host multiple meetings throughout the next year during which Thailand is the Chair.
The meetings will also include APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting. Such a meet-up will provide the country with great opportunities to enhance the tourism industry in the country.
Thailand wishes to expand the Asia-Pacific under the concept of the Bio-Circular-Green or BCG economy model. BCG includes sustainability and inclusivity in Asia-Pacific along with restoration of regional connectivity.
Moreover, APEC is a regional cooperation initiative to promote trade and investment along with the development of economic and social dimensions. This includes 21 world countries including Australia, China, and Japan.
The list includes the United States as well. The total population of these countries is 3 billion and holds 59 percent of the international GDP.
