From Campus to the World: Tajik University Advances Peace, Prosperity and Progress

The globalized world is caught in a whirlpool of complex issues, including clashes of cultures and civilizations, ongoing conflicts, the unprecedented spread of terrorism and extremism, and the use of “double standards,” which often serve various vested interests. In such circumstances, leaders and scholars must continuously strive to understand these challenges correctly, prevent their dangers, and educate future generations with wisdom.

In this context, the messages and consistent initiatives of the President of Tajikistan have attracted the attention of nations and states. It is noteworthy that President Emomali Rahmon, once again highlighted pressing global issues in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he proposed the adoption of a special UN resolution titled the “Decade of Peacebuilding for Future Generations.”

There are several primary vocational education institutions in Tajikistan, which train specialists in different areas, including engineering and technology, transport, energy, architecture and construction, agriculture, etc. There are also many secondary vocational education institutions that train specialists in multi areas, including teaching, medicine, culture, agriculture, economics, technology, engineering, and human rights.

The science and education are undoubtedly one of the main factors of development, and the country’s scientists and institutions play a role as a great intellectual resource of society for the advancement and improvement of social conditions. State independence created favorable conditions for scientific research, the revival of the cultural heritage and history of the Tajiks to be more and better presented. At all times, education has been at the forefront, and today the attention of the government of the country is focused on this direction. With the full support and efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, the field of education and vocational education is developing year by year. The leader of the nation considers education as the bright lighting star of the any nation as he said: “The youth is the main driving force of the state and the nation, and their proper education is both a debt and an obligation for teachers.”

His attention and support for the educational sector have driven the comprehensive development of science and knowledge, establishing a solid foundation for preparing highly skilled specialists capable of making a significant contribution to the sustainable future of the state. By the efforts of Tajikistan education system is rapidly evolving, ranging high international standards, and striving for new heights.

Since the first years of independence, the country has paid special attention to the development of science and education, vocational education as a key factor in the development of all spheres of social life, and has been developing and strengthening its various directions by adopting decrees. The adoption of a number of important state programs and concepts during the period of independence has created a favorable basis for the implementation of reforms in the fields of education and vocational education and, in this context, improving the working conditions of teachers and production trainers, and has given a serious impetus to the level and quality of education and upbringing at all levels of education.

Currently, books and educational materials are being published and developed taking into account new conditions, and in addition, experienced teachers, using the opportunities provided by educational social networks, contribute to its development.

The role of scientists and writers, ambassadors, newspapers and magazines, books and articles, and research and analytical institutes and centers in the development of science and education is considered very important, and it is expanding day by day through the use of the wisdom and skills of teachers, educators and community leaders.

The International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan is one the bright navigator source inventor of knowledge of the country. The university established in 1991 during the era of the independence day of Tajikistan playing key role in training highly qualified personnel essential for the development of the national economy. Since its foundation, the university has been dynamically evolving, expanding its structure, and striving as one of the leading educational centers in the region. Professor Ubaidullo Asrorzoda is the Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan since 2020.

Presently the university is one of the largest universities in the country enrolling more than 10,000 students. In addition, the Research Institute of Green Economy and the Research Institute of Tourism and Entrepreneurship offer specialized programs that promote tourism and the green economy. The university has regional institutes, colleges and vocational lyceums in different regions of the countries such as Khujand International Institute, Dangara International Institute, and Levakant International Institute, the College of Industry and Social Services and the College of Tourism and Social Services, the Vocational Lyceum of Chemical Industry and the Vocational Lyceum of Services offering a wide range of educational programs aimed at training specialists for various sectors of the economy, including tourism, entrepreneurship, information technology and actively prepare mid-level specialists who contribute to the development of various sectors of economy and tourism moreover.

On August 30, the President visited the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan on celebration the Day of Knowledge and the Lesson of Peace of the country. He said in his speech that all the progress and achievements including in the field of education, the decent and peaceful life of the people depends on the maintenance of peace, tranquility, and political stability of the country. The President considered peace to be the head of the people, the happiness and well-being of every family, and the basis for the progress of the state and nation, including the development of the education sector.

He called the proposal on the “Decade of Strengthening Peace for the Sake of Future Generations” a logical continuation of the country’s peace-loving efforts in the international arena. The President noted that “the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, as the first higher professional education institution with international status in the country, with the support and constant attention of the Government, has in recent years become a leading center for training competitive specialists under a multi-level education system. It was approved on November 25, 2025, ongoing measures are envisaged to ensure the effective operation of the Skills Development Center, improve the university’s digital management system, establishment of Tourism Academy on the basis of the Institute of Tourism.

Consequently the university in the charter of the “open door” policy of the country has cooperation with different countries, engaging in international projects and collaborates with leading foreign scientific and educational institutions. The International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan signed cooperation agreements with more than 160 organizations and scientific and educational institutions, including student and faculty exchanges, joint scientific research, and participation in international educational projects.

Presently, the university is considered among the prestigious organizations such as the Universities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the International Academy of Higher Education Sciences, and the Asian Association of Universities cooperates in the programs of the World Tourism Organization actively. It is a leading higher education institution in the region, actively engaging with foreign students and creating unique opportunities for education in tourism, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, hosting students from CIS countries, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTET) actively attracts foreign students by offering high-quality education in various fields. The main mission of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan is developing verified specialized educational programs by preparing highly qualified specialists for various sectors of the trade and economy, technology and tourism. Consequently the University in coordination with the government, is organizing the International Forum on “Partnership for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart”on 14-18 April. It is good to mention that the forum also has special programs and events aligned with the international initiatives of Tajikistan in the fields of sustainable development, the green economy, artificial intelligence, water resources and environmental protection, which have gained broad recognition at the global level.

The forum also brings all the rectors and representatives of academic and educational institutions, international and regional organizations, the diplomatic corps, research and analytical centers, business entities, media organizations, expert communities, civil society organizations in the city of Dushanbe promoting humanity peace prosperity and progressive life and friendship.
