Islamabad, (TDI): Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin has emphasized the significant progress in relations among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states.
He led the country’s official delegation at the 23rd meeting of SCO member countries’ economic and trade ministers in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The delegation also included Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir.
In his address, Zavqizoda praised the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon and other SCO leaders for advancing cooperation within the organization.
He said that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policies of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the leaders of the SCO countries, relations between the member nations have steadily advanced to a high level.
Tajikistan considers the development of cooperation within SCO as one of the top priorities of its foreign policy.
Trade Between Tajikistan and SCO Countries
As a result, foreign trade between Tajikistan and SCO countries has shown a trend of continuous growth, with more than 70 percent of Tajikistan’s annual trade turnover being attributed to the SCO region.
The Tajik side emphasized that the SCO accounts for nearly half of the world’s population and 27 percent of global GDP, making it a region with a vast market and considerable opportunities.

In this regard, the Strategy for Economic Development of the SCO for the period up to 2030, initiated by Tajikistan, was developed and adopted by the member countries.
Zavqizoda proposed to the participants the development of an action plan for this strategy, focusing on areas such as green energy, e-commerce, digital economy, the implementation of large infrastructure projects in the transport and energy sectors, innovative industries, and leveraging Tajikistan’s broad transit potential.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the discussed matters.
