Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Tajikistan in Pakistan hosted a festive event, celebrating the International Day of Navruz, which was observed this year on 20 March 2025.
The festival is very popular in the Central Asian Region and is one of the most important celebrations of the year.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, received and welcomed the envoys of other countries and the Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Atadjan Movlamov, at the reception.
In addition to envoys and diplomatic staff, other dignitaries and Heads of diplomacy institutes were also invited at the reception.
An Exhibition of Art and Culture was also on display, to introduce the guests to Tajik culture and how the country celebrates Navruz.
Guests were also served the Tajik specialty, SUMANAK. The delicacy is equally famous in Iran and other Central Asian countries, and the name also differs viz a viz different regional variations. The dish is prepared with wheat and the final product is a pudding-like dish.
The Dean of Diplomatic Corps, in his address, noted that the reception is a gesture of peace and friendship by the Tajik Embassy, and that festivals like Navruz bring civilizations closer.

The Ambassador of Tajikistan noted that the festival is a common heritage of the world and is not limited to any country or region.
He also informed the guests about the traditional ways in which Tajiks celebrate Navruz. Iranian Ambassador, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, also shared his thoughts at the occasion, as Iran observes one of the largest celebrations of this annual spring festival.
The guests thanked the Tajik Embassy and the Ambassador for a night where differences became insignificant and the rigor of peace, unity, celebration, and rebirth took over.
