New York, 30 September 2022 (TDI): Switzerland announced its goals for the third committee of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77).
Switzerland prioritized universal abolition of the death penalty, a ban on ill-treatment and women’s rights, and gender equality.

Third Committee of UNGA 77
At its seventy-seventh session, the General Assembly’s Third Committee is presided over by José Alfonso Blanco Conde of the Dominican Republic.
The committee’s agenda calls for discussing a variety of social, humanitarian, and human rights concerns that affect people all over the world.
The crucial portion of the committee’s work focuses on reviewing reports on the special practices of the recently constituted Human Right Council and inquiries into human rights issues.
Furthermore, the third committee discusses the advancement of women, the safety of children, Native American concerns, how to treat refugees, and the promotion of fundamental freedom through the abolition of racism and racial discrimination.
The committee also holds discussions on the improvement of the right to self-determination.
Moreover, the committee will also address significant issues about youth, families, elderly people, and people with disabilities, crime prevention, criminal justice, and drug control. Switzerland also participated to enhance the goals of the third Committee of UNGA 77.

UN High-Level week started on 20 September and ended on 26 September 2022. The theme of the High-Level week was based on the understanding that the world is experiencing a pivotal period in the history of the UN due to several closely linked crises.
The session discussed several issues including COVIS-19, conflict in Ukraine, humanitarian crisis, climate change, and increasing threats to the world economy.
The high government officials and Foreign Ministers of almost all the states participated in the session to enhance collaboration in dealing with global issues.
Switzerland participated in the session with some goals. Switzerland prioritized addressing the impact of the armed conflict in Ukraine. Moreover, Switzerland promoted international law, supported an effective UN system, and advanced sustainable development.
