Islamabad (TDI): The Swedish Embassy organized Lucia celebration in Islamabad on Friday evening, bringing a unique cultural experience to the capital.
The event, rooted in Swedish traditions, focused on light, unity, and shared moments.
Lucia, an old Swedish custom, symbolizes hope during the darkest period of the year.
A major highlight of the festive evening was the Lucia procession.
Participants from Nordic and Swedish communities, dressed in white and holding candles, sung traditional Swedish melodies, fostering a welcoming and serene atmosphere.
Guests were presented with gingerbread cookies, saffron buns, and other Swedish foods.
Ambassador Alexandra Berg von Linde, in her speech, reflected on her first months in Pakistan and appreciated the hospitality of the people, the rich culture, and enduring relations between Sweden and Pakistan, particularly as the two countries celebrate seventy-five years of diplomatic ties.
The envoy said that Lucia is about light and hope, and sharing this beautiful tradition with our friends in Pakistan strengthens our bond.
