Dubai, 10 September 2022 (TDI): The stage is set for the final of Asia Cup 2022 as both the teams have been decided for the final. The two teams that have qualified for the Asia Cup 2022 final are Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Both these teams have qualified for the final of Asia Cup 2022 on the basis of their performances in the Asia Cup, specifically in the Super Four stage.

Performance of both teams

Pakistan won two out of three matches while Sri Lanka remained unbeaten in the Super Four stage and won all three matches. India and Afghanistan were knocked out of the Asia Cup 2022.

The last match of the Super Four round was played between both these teams on 9 September. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan easily by 6 wickets.

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first against Pakistan. Pakistani batting was sloppy from the word go. The batsmen couldn’t find the middle of the bat. The top scorer of the match was Pakistani skipper Babar Azam, who scored 30 runs off 29 balls.

The Pakistan team was all out on 121 on the first ball of the final over. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers who got 3 wickets for just 21 runs in his 4 overs.

In response, Sri Lanka lost 2 quick wickets but then, the batsmen felt comfortable on the crease. Pathum Nissanka scored 55 off 48 balls. Haris Rauf and Muhammad Hasnain took 2 wickets each for Pakistan.

Sri Lanka chased the target in 17 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Wanindu Hasaranga was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.

Both teams will face each other one more time in the final of the Asia Cup. The final of Asia Cup 2022 will be played on 11 September in Dubai.
