Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister meets Myanmar’s Ambassador

Colombo, 29 September 2021 (TDI): Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister, Gamini Lakshman Peiris held a meeting with the Ambassador of Myanmar to Sri Lanka, U Han Thu.

The Ambassador started by congratulating Minister on his new position as Foreign Minister. Ambassador Thu updated him on the present political situation in Myanmar and the steps being taken to restore normalcy.

It included holding a free and fair multiparty election within the next two years.

Sri Lankan Minister emphasized Buddhism and culture as fundamental foundations of close bilateral cooperation between the two states. He also stated that Sri Lanka actively supports social and political stability in Myanmar within an inclusive democratic framework.
