Colombo, 23 July 2022 (TDI): Sri Lanka received medical aid from the South Korean Non-Profit Organization, “Human Earth Welfare.” The official handover ceremony took place at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul on Friday.
The Human Earth Welfare Non-Profit Organization of the Republic of Korea provided 26 critical medicinal goods valued at more than Rs. 42,000,000 to Sri Lanka.
The donation was facilitated by Ven Thalgamuwe Damakiththi Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Korea-Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya.

Sri Lankan Airlines is providing free transport for the shipment of pharmaceuticals to Sri Lanka. The Chief Incumbent speaking during the official handover ceremony, emphasized that this medical aid would be of tremendous service to Sri Lanka’s medical sector.
Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Savitri I. Panabokke, accepted the donation on behalf of the Sri Lankan government and the people.

Savitri I. Panabokke expressed her sincere appreciation to the Human Earth Welfare Nonprofit Organization for its contribution.
She also praised Thalduwe Dhammakiththi Thero for facilitating this noble gesture. She also applauded the efforts of Dileepa Wijesuriya, Country Director of Sri Lankan Airlines in Korea, for his cooperation.
The Ambassador underlined that the donation reflects the strong people-to-people connections between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea and their strong bilateral ties.
Sri Lanka and South Korea Diplomatic Ties
The diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea were established on 14 November 1977.
Since then, there has been a steady expansion of bilateral relations in the political, economic, and cultural spheres and people-to-people contacts.
Cooperation between the two countries exists at a greater level, including in academia, science and technology, defense, and cultural relations.
The bilateral relations between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka continue to deepen gradually to a great state.
