Kabul: 25 July 2021(TDI): The Special Representatives of NATO, the European Union, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, and the United Kingdom released the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Rome, Italy. They welcome the Taliban’s statement demanding an end to the violence, an instant ceasefire, and a political solution in Afghanistan.

Under this statement, the Special Representatives of these states and institutions highlighted the importance of complying with five key principles in order to provide assistance and ongoing support to Afghanistan and achieve a political settlement that includes; (1) Participatory governance. 1) the right of the people to choose their political leaders, (2) the protection of human rights, including the rights of women, youth, and minorities, and (3) the continuous commitment to the fight against terrorism, in order to ensure that Afghanistan is not a safe place for terrorists. This remains unchanged, and (1) includes adherence to international humanitarian law.

It is stated that they express their support for the five principles enacted in this Statement, which is believed to reflect the true inclination and determination of the Afghan people and government to ensure the country’s long-term peace and stability.

The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan applauds these countries’ and organizations’ condemnation of the increasing number of Taliban, foreign fighters, and regional and international terrorist group attacks in the country. It also extends its support for the accentuation on this proclamation for the execution of the interests that have appeared.
