Tehran, 30 May 2022 (TDI): South African Deputy Foreign Minister, Candith Mashego-Dlamini met with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The meeting took place in Tehran.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that Iran was serious about enhancing relations with African countries, especially South Africa. He gave a positive review of bilateral relations in various sections.

He stated that Iran was ready to host the 15th Joint Economic Commission with South Africa shortly. The Iranian Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of continuing the trend of mutual assistance between both in international institutions.
He commended South Africa’s position on Palestine, stating that the country understands the ongoing apartheid against the Palestinians.
During the discussion, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian acknowledged that the Islamic Republic of Iran sees no boundaries in its relations with South Africa.
He went on to say that the two countries have a lot of capacity to improve their relations and that the 15th meeting of their Joint Commission, which will take place in Pretoria this year, will be critical in that regard.
Moreover, he expressed gratitude to South Africa for its policy on regional concerns in West Asia and its support for the Palestinians.
He hoped that the Political Advisory Committee meeting would have a good and productive discussion on many subjects and that a roadmap for Iran-South Africa relations would be put out, and that the two countries’ relations and the alliance would grow.
For her part, South Africa’s Deputy Foreign Minister praised Iran’s assistance for her country in international organizations. She stated that her country saw Palestine as a friend.
Deputy Foreign Minister Dlamini expressed gratitude to the Iranian Foreign Minister for the meeting. Candith Mashego-Dlamini was there to attend the tenth meeting of the Iran-South Africa Political Advisory Committee.
