Pretoria, 4 September 2021 (TDI): The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation announced that Deputy Minister Alvin Botes attended a meeting with the staff of Romanian-South African Trade Association (ROSABA) in Bucharest on Friday.
The discussions focused on imports and exports between the two countries. The exports were mainly to South Africa, including synthetic fibers, machinery, leather products, chemicals, while targeted imports included iron ore, coal, agrochemicals, wool, and wine.
Bilateral relations between the two countries have been reviewed. Both countries established bilateral relations in 1991. Over time, Romania strengthened its presence in South Africa by establishing a Consulate General in Cape Town in 1993, a Trade Office in Johannesburg in 1994, and a second Trade Office in Durban in 1996.
