Singapore, 22 November 2021 (TDI): Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong held a telephonic conversation with his Japanese Counterpart, Kishida Fumio Today, the Foreign Ministry announced.

He congratulated Kishida Fumio over his appointment as Japan’s Prime Minister. Earlier, the Liberal Democratic Party won the Lower House elections in Japan. Singaporean head reaffirmed the great ties between the two countries.

Whereas the Japanese Prime Minister on his part stressed enhanced ties with Singapore. He also emphasized cooperation in the economic field including green and digital, security, and tackling COVID-19.

Singaporean Prime Minister underscored that his country is looking forward to extending cooperation in the areas of mutual interests. The two countries affirmed cooperation in the safe resumption of travel, digitalization, and the digital economy.

Moreover, they also concurred over enhancing the solid collaboration for the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and ASEAN outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

During the call, the Singaporean Premier also invited Prime Minister Kishida to make an official visit to Singapore. Earlier, the two Counterparts met in September 2019 where Prime Minister Lee delivered a keynote speech at the Singapore Summit.
