Sindh to Experience Heavy Rainfall and Urban Flooding: NDMA

Karachi, 1 September 2024 (TDI): The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) emergency operations center on Sunday predicted heavy rainfall, windstorms and thundershowers in various cities of the province from September 3 to 4.

The NEOC said a new weather system will enter the province on the night of September 3, which will likely impact Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, and others.

It said that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in urban areas and may cause damage to life and property.

The NDMA has alerted relevant authorities of the threat and urged them to take necessary precautions in this regard.

The authority has instructed all relevant departments to alert Emergency Response Teams and mobilize resources to ensure a swift response to any arising situations.

Residents have been advised to remain alert, avoid seaside areas, and follow local authority guidance.

Thunderstorms may increase the risk of lightning and utility disruptions. The NDMA has instructed all relevant departments to prepare for potential flooding and adverse weather conditions.
