New York (TDI): An 18-member student delegation from the Faculty of Law, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, visited the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations (UN) for an insightful country briefing.
Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, briefed the students on different dimensions of the country’s foreign policy.
He highlighted Pakistan’s priorities as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), its engagement with the UN system, contributions to UN peacekeeping, efforts to combat Islamophobia, and perspectives on the future of multilateralism.
The briefing was followed by a dynamic Q&A session.
The students—who will be representing Pakistan in the upcoming Model United Nations—raised thoughtful questions on a range of topics including peace and security, women’s rights, the effectiveness of confidence-building measures, water resource management, the situations in Gaza and Jammu & Kashmir, and reforms of the Security Council.
